FLASHBACK SEARCH

Flashback in makeup refers to an undesirable effect that occurs when a person’s face appears noticeably lighter or whiter in flash photography than it does in person or under normal lighting conditions. This phenomenon is primarily caused by the ingredients used in certain makeup products, particularly those containing light-reflecting particles like silica or titanium dioxide. These ingredients can bounce off the light from a camera flash, resulting in a washed-out or ghostly appearance in photographs. Flashback is often more pronounced when using products with a high SPF or those that contain white powders. To minimize the risk of flashback, it is advisable to test makeup products under flash photography conditions before any important event. Opting for makeup products specifically formulated to be flash-friendly or avoiding products with high levels of light-reflecting particles can also help reduce the occurrence of flashback.
